On the morning of 1st, April, teachers and students in JMU held a memorial ceremony where they laid wreaths to bronze statues of Li Shangda, Chen Wenque, Chen liushi to show sense of respect and mourning. There were around 300 people attended the ceremony, which include leaders of JMU , Gu Fangzhao, Li Qingbiao, Ye Meiping, former leaders Zhang Xiangzhong, Gu jiande, leaders from Cheng Yi college and representatives of teachers and students. The whole ceremony went on well under the host of Wang Jian, who is the director of the International Affairs Department.
Leaders and representatives of teachers and students took turns to lay wreaths and bowed for three times per one to bronze statues, which meant to recall their contributions. This ceremony also aimed at conveying great respect and deep grief and miss.
After that, Secretary of the JMU Party Committee Gu Fangzhao, principal Li Qingbiao took part in a memorial ceremony of sweeping the tomb of Tan Kah Kee. They laid wreaths to Mr.Tan in memory of Mr.Tan’s glorious life where Mr.Tan acted like an absolute patriot and spared no effort on education.
